Amber Portwood on Suicide Watch in Jail

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, 21, spent Christmas and New Year's at Madison County Jail in Indiana and sources say she is currently on suicide watch.

“Amber recently told the guard if she was sent to prison she would kill herself, which put theTeen Mom on temporary suicide watch,” reveals an inside source. “Amber is really depressed and alone and they won’t give her any prescription medication for her anxiety.”

Portwood has reportedly been moved twice from other cell blocks after being bullied by other inmates. “She’s barely eaten or had any sleep in over a week and she’s constantly being harassed in jail because of Teen Mom," reveals the insider, adding that. “One girl knocked off Amber’s food tray and another inmate threw toilet water in her face while she was trying to sleep.”

The source also reports that on Christmas, Portwood called her ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley, who is also the father of her 2 year old daughter, Leah, but got upset when he answered and told her he was with Leah and his new girlfriend. "She cursed out Gary saying it was his fault she was in jail, but Gary told Amber she got what she deserved and hung up on her.”

The past year has been challenging for the young mother, whose legal troubles began almost exactly a year ago, when she was arrested for domestic battery on December 27, 2010, after hitting Gary on camera on an episode of Teen Mom.

The altercation with her then-boyfriend and daughter's father also led to a string of backlash from the general public, who were not shy about expressing their anger and disgust with Portwood's actions. Some locals who lived near Amber even went so far as harassing and threatening her outside her house and even vandalizing her property. All of this eventually lead to her losing custody of Leah on May 11, when a judge ruled that all the threats and harassment were an unsafe environment for Leah. Amber reportedly agreed.

On June 14, reportedly after reading hateful comments about herself from the general public on Twitter, Amber threatened to kill herself while talking on the phone with Gary. Concerned, Gary reached out to a close family member of Amber's, who immediately alerted the authorities. According to a source, EMT arrived at Portwood's residence and found her with a rope loosely tied around her neck. She was given an oxygen mask and transferred to a hospital, where she stayed until June 17.

On June 22, Portwood plead guilty to domestic battery and two year probation to avoid jail time. As part of her probation requirements, she was ordered to obtain her GED, deposit $10,000 into a college fund for Leah, take court-ordered anger-management classes and submit to drug tests.

Those conditions were allegedly violated on December 16, when Amber reportedly failed to submit a urine sample for a drug test. That same day, two probation officers paid a visit to her house, where they allegedly found prescription drugs that Amber could not provide a prescription for.

Three days later, on December 19, Portwood was arrested for violating her probation and possession of a controlled substance, where she remains incarcerated.

An additional charge of battery was also filed against the troubled reality star, which stems from an incident on November 18, after she allegedly got into drunken brawl with another woman at a diner, all of which was caught on video tape.

Portwood will be incarcerated until at least January 27, when she is due back in court for a hearing on her alleged probation violation. According to the inside source, this came as a cruel shock to Amber, who says, “Amber thought because she was a celebrity she’d get out of jail within a few hours like Lindsay Lohan, but she definitely had a wake up call and hasn’t stopped crying since being locked up.”
